A black-lipped oyster produces the beautiful Tahitian pearl, found in Tahiti Islands. They are cultured at French Polynesia. Unlike other pearls, Tahiti pearls are dark in colour. They have incredible array of colours and are found in peacock blue, green, greys and black. They are found in variety of shapes, round, oval, drop, semi-baroque and baroque. Tahitian pearls have highest level of nacre formation around the beads.
Tahitian pearls are considered to be largest pearls size ranging from 8mm to 18mm approximately and are valuable than freshwater and Akoya pearls.
